MCSF Pediatric Leukemia Research Grant
Dr. Phoenix Ho
During this year’s 3rd annual Gala and Silent Auction(MCNY)held last November 2010, as representatives of the Foundation, Mary Claire’s parents Chip and Joan Satterly announced our commitment to award our first $50,000 MCSF Pediatric Leukimia research grant. This grant will go towards directly funding one of the country’s most promising pediatric (AML) research scientists, Dr. Phoenix Ho. At the Meshinchi Lab, a part of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington, Dr. Ho spends every day researching a cure for pediatric AML leukemia. Worldwide, this lab is one of the single most prominent facilities doing research on pediatric AML biology. Though Dr. Ho’s career goal is finding a cure, his personal goal is to contribute to improving outcomes for children and young adults with leukemia, with people like Mary Claire as constant inspiration.
